She hopes they will remember love…

So she leads her children with light, serving fresh heaping plates-full of grace, like homemade French fries shared round the old stove, on their most weary of days, when their hearts are tempted to carry the weight of the world.

She hopes they will remember peace…

So she holds them close, whispering age-old songs, as they listen to her heart slowly beating in rhythm with theirs, and as those who have gone before them she paints beauty on the walls of their hearts and their home, adorning both their memories and time itself, with love.

She hopes they will remember kindness…

So she learns alongside them, among gardens green, planting hope-filled seeds together that will one day become mighty trees, nurturing their children’s children, with hearts full of hospitality and a long table full of friends, watering the soil with their prayers and caring for the land.

She hopes they will remember wonder…

So she weaves stories for them, made of whimsy and light, to help guide their way for generations to come, always telling them of laughter and of tears, of brokenness and of truth, because she learned long ago that a story is most true when it’s not missing any parts.

She hopes they will remember generosity…

So she walks with them, among verdant forest trails, seeking ancient nurse logs, while sharing tales along the way of how a hopeful tree that once rooted deeply, while growing tall and true, now rests upon the forest floor, nourishing lithe little trees to life with love, and she hopes they will remember.
